cell phone repair diy

Learn how to repair your cell phone yourself. This guide is for those people who know the basics or are do-it-yourself (DIY) type of people. Most of the cell phone problems and faults are very minor and get repaired by following just the basic and simple procedures. You can save a lot of your precious money which you pay at service centers, if you follow our simple guide and steps.

The first thing is you have to identify the type of problem

The first thing you should do is what type of problem it is. Usually there are 3 types of problems that arise in mobile phones. They are of three types:

  1. Settings
  2. Hardware
  3. Software

1.  Settings Faults: Minor issues like you are not able to make a call, phone switching-off as soon as you open the messages inbox or gallery and similar minor errors are called settings faults. You can first try by just restarting your mobile. This is the most basic and simple tip. If it is not solved, to repair them you simply have to reset settings of the handset to the original factory settings.

To Reset – Go To Settings Menu – Select Reset / Factory Reset / Restore Factory Settings.

The device will now ask you for the security code. Type the default security code unless the code has been changed. Your problem should get solved. If you are not lucky, you will have to format or flash your handset. If you want to know more about it read what is flashing and how to flash a mobile phone.

2.  Hardware Faults: All faults related to improper functioning of spare parts are hardware faults. Problems like no charging, no outgoing sound (microphone fault), no incoming sound (speaker fault), no music, no graphics on display, touch not working, buttons not working, etc are included in this category. For these sort of issues, you will have to open up your gadget and fix it. You can see videos of how to open your model on youtube! Most of the hardware related issues get repaired by either cleaning or servicing of the parts, components and their connections. So the next thing is you have to clean the connections of that particular spare part which is not functioning and check the results. If its not mended yet, you will have to change the spare parts. You can also google for solutions to all such problems in your phone or tablet.

3.  Software Faults: Problems like hanging (freezing), auto switch-off, getting stuck on booting, slow processing, etc are included in this category. You will have to format your cell phone as well as the MMC card. If the problem is still not solved, you will have to flash or update your handset.

If you are not able to fix the phone following these steps, the problem may be complex. So it will be advisable to stop trying further and drop it at a repair center.

Also note that if you are not well versed with whatever is mentioned above and seem confused, then please do not do it yourself. You are more likely to damage the handset further rather than fixing it!

Note: If your cell phone is under warranty, don’t open your handset and repair yourself. You will loose warranty on it!
